The eastern coast of Singapore is considered as one of the more popular destination for outdoor recreational activities in this sunny island. During your stay at Capri by Fraser Changi City, take one of the weekends off, head out to the coast and soak up the sun.
It is one of the busiest parks in Singapore and whether you’re alone or with family, there’s something for everyone to here. A 10-minute drive or 20-minute bus ride away, this beach-park makes a great daytrip location. Best of all, it’s free, and parking lots are readily available along the East Coast Parkway. Here are some of the things you can do here:
Cycle & Roller-blade – Flat and well maintained landscaped terrains with cycling tracks and pavements throughout the entire stretch of East Coast Park make it one of Singapore’s favorite spots to bike or rollerblade. And fret not, if you dont have your equipment as there are numerous bike and skate rental shops along the the coastline of East Coast Park. The rentals start from $4 to $7 per hour, with most shops offering special packages for the entire day at cheaper rates.
Cable-Ski – If you’re up for something a bit more exciting, consider cable-skiing at SKI360o, Singapore’s first cable-ski park. Located next to the East Coast Seafood Centre between Carpark E1 and E2, this cable-ski park offers a variety of packages and lessons for beginners and advanced cable-ski enthusiasts, including equipment rental at reasonable prices. The park features a 650-meter long cableway with a top speed of 58km/h!
Park Connectors – One of the features of East Coast Park would be how the cycling and jogging tracks are all connected with the surrounding parks in the area. The network of Park Connectors (PCN) form the 42km long Eastern Coastal Loop, one of the best places in Singapore to traverse the urban cityscape on foot, bicycle, or a pair of skates.
Changi Beach Park
Located at one of the Eastern-most points of Singapore, Changi Beach Park is one of the oldest beach parks in Singapore. You can drive there, or simply take the 7km cycling path (part of the coastal loop) up to Beach Park at the eastern end of East Coast Park. Just off the main path is the Changi Point Coastal walk, a 2.2km trail that takes visitors along the shoreline and links to the Loyang Park Connector. Visiting this trail during the low tide gives you a glimpse of the marine life that teems from the rocky shore at the edge of the park. If you go during the evenings after dinner, it will be an excellent opportunity to interact with the locals who visit the park for their evening walks and exercises. In addition, the occasional cool sea breeze will be a welcome respite from the humid temperatures of this tropical island.
Places to Eat
After spending the entire day out, treat yourself to a hearty seafood meal at one of the best seafood joints in Singapore. Just off SKI360 is the East Coast Seafood Centre, with three of Singapore’s most famous seafood restaurants all under… well, three roofs: No Signboard Seafood, Red House Seafood Restaurant, Long Beach Seafood Restaurant and further down the road, Jumbo Seafood Restaurant. Don’t be afraid to get your fingers dirty while trying out signature local dishes like the Black Pepper Crab or the Singapore Chili Crab, complete with a great view of the sea!
Stay with us for a few weeks, and you’ll get what Singaporeans mean when they rave about the fun sporting activities along East Coast Park or the legendary Singapore Chili Crab.
